  • Glenn Loovens hails team spirit
  • Squad closer than ever, says Owls skipper
  • Wednesday two points off play-off spots

Owls skipper Glenn Loovens believes the tight-knit nature of the squad will take Wednesday even further this season.

From the first minute of 2014/15 action, the Owls have shown excellent team spirit which has been a big factor in the positive start to the campaign, according to Loovens.

The ex-Celtic stopper sees no reason why that can’t continue after the international break.

He told swfc.co.uk: “We are tight as a team and willing to work hard for each other and that will get you extra points over the season.

“We gel well, we know what we want and that is to play football and get results together.

“We have started really well, been unlucky at times but the positive thing is we have been in every Championship game and could have potentially won each one.”

Another big positive in Loovens’ eyes is the way in which players have slotted into the team when the Owls have been faced with injuries and suspensions.

He went on to say: “You are going to have that during the season.

“You will get suspensions and injuries but the boys who have come in have done great.

“That shows we have got a good squad this season.

“Everybody who comes in knows their job. We train hard every week together, we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”
