Triple boost for Wednesday

2 October 2014

  • Owls trio return to fitness
  • Kieran Lee, Sam Hutchinson and Tom Lees back for Owls
  • SWFC head to Leeds on Saturday

Wednesday have been handed a significant boost with Tom Lees, Sam Hutchinson and Kieran Lee all in line to feature at Elland Road on Saturday.

The trio have returned to fitness ahead of the Leeds clash and are back in the thoughts of head coach Stuart Gray after a strong training session on Thursday morning.

Ex-Leeds defender Lees (hamstring) has been sidelined since the cup clash with Manchester City, while Hutchinson (back) and Lee (groin) haven’t featured since mid-August.

Gray said: “They all trained this morning at full intensity so it’s great to have them back.

“With Tom, we have missed him the last two games and with Kieran and Sam, it will be like two new signings.

“The most important thing now is that they stay fit and then I’ll have a selection headache come Saturday.”

Gray has said the international break that follows Saturday’s clash with Leeds has come at a bad time for the trio, reasoning:

“It’s a nice boost for them to be back but they will be disappointed that we are heading into an international break. When you've been out, you want to get back playing games.

“But for the team, it’s a huge plus to have them back, even with the quality in training this morning you can see what the three of them can offer.”

Elsewhere, Kamil Zayatte will miss the short hop to Leeds after pulling up with a hamstring injury during the 1-1 draw with Ipswich.

Gray added: “Kamil is having a scan today but it looks as though he will be out for a minimum of two to three weeks at this stage. We will have to see what the scan says first.”
