Under-18s extend run of resistance

18 October 2014

  • Under-18s draw 0-0 with Cardiff
  • Six clean sheets on the bounce for Owls
  • Close affair at Middlewood Road

The Owls’ Under-18s were held to a 0-0 draw at home against Cardiff but extended their unbeaten run to six games.

After drawing 0-0 last weekend away at Colchester, Steven Haslam's team were looking to continue their promising run back on home soil.

And Wednesday started well, although young keeper Brad McDonagh saved well to deny City on 15 minutes.

The Owls responded with Matt Penney going close before half time and in the second period the game developed into an even affair.

Cardiff arguably had the edge in terms of chances but McDonagh served his side well as the last line of defence, posting his seventh successive clean sheet along the way.

Owls: McDonagh, Foster, Stachini, Law, O'Grady (Ellam 46), Beatson, Duffy (73), Brown, Tracey (Hirst 57), Clarke, Penney
