We must respond at Brentford

  • Royston Drenthe disappointed by Watford reverse
  • Winger keen to get back in action on Tuesday
  • Wednesday head to Brentford in midweek

Owls loanee Royston Drenthe was disappointed by Saturday’s result against Watford but insists there is only one way to put it right.

And that is by focusing on Tuesday’s trip to Brentford and picking up the points at Griffin Park.

The Owls were defeated by league leaders Watford 3-0 at Hillsborough and on the game, Drenthe exclusively told swfc.co.uk:

“We knew before Watford came here that they are a really good side.

“They know how to play football, of course they have a good team and it was always going to be a tough game against them.

“If you give them space, they will cause you problems.

“I thought we started the second half well but they scored the goals. We don’t hide behind anybody, including the officials, we have to look at what we do and look forward.”

Drenthe made his fifth appearance for the Owls against the Hornets on Saturday, coming on from the bench at the start of the second half.

And from minute one of the second period, the forward made his presence felt and was a livewire for the home side, but this served as no comfort for the on-loan Reading man, who said:

“I don’t like to talk about myself after we have lost a game.

“I’m a professional and I play for Sheffield Wednesday and that is the most important thing.

“When I wake up on Sunday, I will have forgotten about my performance. My focus is just on Tuesday and winning that game. The team winning games is the most important thing.”
