6 October 2014

Keiren Westwood has been confirmed in the final Republic of Ireland squad for their two upcoming European 2016 Championship qualifiers.

The in-form Owls goalkeeper was initially included in the preliminary squad but has now made the final cut.

The Irish host Gibraltar on 11 October in Dublin before travelling to Germany three days later to take on the reigning world champions.

Westwood was also in the recent Republic of Ireland squad that faced Oman and Georgia but a bout of tonsillitis dictated the goalkeeper’s withdrawal.

The 29-year-old has been in fine form for Wednesday since joining over the summer, culminating in a Man of the Match performance last Saturday as the Owls drew 1-1 with Leeds.
