Changes likely at The Etihad

24 September 2014

  • Manchester City v Sheffield Wednesday tonight
  • Changes in store for both sides
  • Team news below for League Cup clash

Owls

Stuart Gray may shuffle his pack for tonight’s Capital One Cup fixture with Manchester City.

Following the clash with City, the Owls have three Championship outings in ten days, starting at Cardiff on Saturday, followed by a home encounter with Ipswich and a trip to Leeds.

Loan duo Royston Drenthe and Hallam Hope have been given permission by their parent clubs to feature at The Etihad, while Jeremy Helan is pushing for a start against his former employers.

Sam Hutchinson and Kieran Lee are doubtful through injury.

Manchester City

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has ruled out five players for the visit of the Owls this evening.

Ahead of the game Pellegrini explained that Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Samir Nasri, Fernando and Stevan Jovetic would join the suspended Pablo Zabaleta on the sidelines.

Given City’s injury and suspension concerns, Pellegrini is certain to make changes for the cup-tie.

The Man City boss will consider a start for teenage forward Jose Angel Pozo.

Joe Hart is likely to be rested, giving Willy Caballero a chance to make his debut in goal after his summer move from Malaga, while Dedryck Boyata and Matija Nastasic may also start.
