Dielna could debut at Bolton

  • Defender Dielna waiting for Owls debut
  • Centre half joined on free transfer
  • Frenchman penned three-year contract

Claude Dielna could make his Owls debut against Bolton on Saturday.

The Frenchman is facing a straight battle with Kamil Zayatte for the central defensive slot vacated by Glenn Loovens’ suspension.

Dielna joined Wednesday last month and put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

The tough-tackling defender has featured for the Under-21s but is yet to play for the seniors given the recent international break.

Zayatte, meanwhile, skippered Guinea on Wednesday evening for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda.

The former Hull man jetted back to England for join preparations for the Bolton clash.

Head coach Stuart Gray said: “Kamil played the full 90 minutes in midweek but he is back with us now.

“I watched Claude play for the Under-21s against Swansea and he did well.

“He was good with the ball at his feet and strong in the tackle.

“I will make a decision on Friday evening.”
