Owls forward Chris Maguire insists the important thing now is to maintain the league form that has seen Wednesday sit just three points off top spot.
Wednesday head into Saturday’s fixture against Cardiff in sixth place and Maguire has said the squad will be fully prepared for the trip to the Welsh capital.
Away from home, Wednesday have been a force in the Championship with three wins from four and undefeated.
Maguire wants to extend that run and said: “We need to keep going. We’re sixth in the league and we have to keep that good form up.
“We’re not the only team that will go to Man City and be beaten convincingly.
“Our main objective is the league and that’s where we have to keep going. We’ve got the momentum in the Championship and we don’t want to let it go.”
Without a win in five, Cardiff are finding their return to the Championship a difficult transition and parted company with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær earlier this month.
And Maguire sees no reason why Wednesday’s good run can’t continue at The Cardiff City Stadium.
He added: “We’re three points off the leaders and feel we have nothing to fear in this division.
“We keep quiet about how we’re doing and go about our business as best as we can.”
