  • Dave Kitson hails Stuart Gray impact
  • Ex-striker says Gray is the best coach he worked with
  • BBC pundit not surprised by Owls' success

Former striker and recent BBC Football League Show pundit Dave Kitson has hailed the coaching skills of Stuart Gray.

In fact, the ex-Reading man has described Gray as the best coach he has ever worked with.

During Saturday night’s show, the Owls were discussed by host Manish Bhasin and Kitson - who worked with Gray while at Portsmouth.

He said: “He was a coach while I was at Portsmouth and was without doubt the best coach I have ever worked with.

“Most players who have worked with Stuart will say similar things.

“You could tell he was always waiting to get back into management and was waiting for the right job to come along.

“He’s got the role at Sheffield Wednesday and it’s working out really well and it’s no surprise to me.”

Kitson, who announced his retirement from professional football in summer 2014, added:

“The sessions he put on were so enjoyable.

“He always put the right session on at the right time and keep the lads buzzing and walking off the training pitch wanting more.

“That is an art, it’s a really hard skill.”
