Owls new recruit Claude Dielna has given Hillsborough the thumbs up after penning his three-year deal with the club.

The commanding defender committed to Wednesday last week and featured in his first game yesterday in S6 for the Owls Development Squad.

Wednesday battled back from a goal down to post a 2-1 win over Swansea and Dielna is happy with his move to these shores.

He told swfc.co.uk: “I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome. I am very happy to be here and I will always give 100 per cent.

“I have always wanted to play in England because for me it is the best.

“I came to Sheffield Wednesday because it is a very good club, a very big club with a big history.

“The stadium is fantastic and very big. The team has a lot of fans and I’ve heard a lot about them.

“It is for this why I came to Sheffield.”

Wednesday face Bolton at The Macron Stadium next weekend and with skipper Glenn Loovens suspended, Dielna could well be in line to make his debut.

He continued: “I think we can win the games regularly at this level from what I have seen. Our goal is to get back into the Premier League. That is my aim also, to play in the best league in the world.

“My ambition coming here is to play well for a winning team and I think that can happen.”
