Tom Lees loving life at Sheffield Wednesday

8 September 2014

  • Tom Lees signed for the Owls from local rivals Leeds
  • Defender has impressed for Wednesday
  • Lees has played every game so far

Tom Lees says he feels settled and at home at Hillsborough following his summer switch from Leeds.

The centre half made the short journey south in July, joining the Owls for an undisclosed fee.

And Lees has slotted seamlessly into the heart of the defence to become an instant crowd favourite in S6.

He said: “Everything has gone really well for me to be honest.

“Everyone at the club has been so welcoming, from the people at the training ground to the staff at the main ground.

“The players and the manager have been different class and I feel completely settled, which is important for a player.”

Lees has been part of a miserly rearguard breached only five times this season, two of which were penalties.

But rather than take any personal credit, he passes the praise on to his team mates, saying:

“It’s been very solid, with everyone working for each other and understanding everyone’s game.

“The goalkeepers are very vocal, the full backs very strong in Liam Palmer and Joe Mattock, and Glenn Loovens has been superb.

“Kamil Zayatte came in at Burnley and also did well.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Stuart Gray as well.

“A lot of people hold the manager in high regard. All the things I’ve heard about him have been fantastic.

“At my age, I’ve still got things to learn. I feel under this manager I will be able to progress and develop my game.”
