Wednesday fans get their ’Netfix’

11 September 2014

  • Matchday programme social media feature success
  • 'Netfix' more interactive with fans
  • First club to include 'SportsYapper'

A new style social media page for the Owls’ matchday programme has proved a big success since its redesign for the 2014/15 season, with fans now able to actively contribute to the pages.

Re-branded as ‘Netfix’, the feature is more interactive with its readers, includes content direct from Owls fans and generally has a more aesthetically pleasing layout.

One feature of the social media pages, ‘Yaps of the week’ aggregates fan generated content from new sports app, ‘SportsYapper’. The article includes the best ‘Yaps’ from Wednesday fans talking about the club both during the week and in matches.

Sheffield Wednesday’s programme is the first and only football club to currently profile Sports Yapper – another exclusive for Wednesdayites!

Images from the club’s new Instagram account, which has now gained more than 5,000 followers since its launch in May, are also displayed in the feature, showcasing all the behind the scenes action from the club.

Top tweets are included too, picking the best of what both the fans and players are saying about Wednesday! Keep a look out in the programme to see if your tweets or yaps are included.

‘Netfix’ also features articles that discuss hot topics around social media, such as Twitter activity during the World Cup, Instagram success and Wednesday’s contributions to the recent ALS ice bucket challenge!.
