Sheffield Wednesday displayed their continued support for Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, during the fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The first nominated ‘Season of Action’ match for the 2014/15 season saw Owls players, management and the SWFC Community Programme all showing their full support to the organisation as players wore Kick It Out t-shirts, management donned badges and the Community Programme displayed Kick It Out flags before kick-off. Club mascots Ozzie and Barney were also involved on the day; wearing their own t-shirts to show their support!

The fixture was chosen by Sheffield Wednesday for Kick It Out’s ‘Season of Action’ initiative, which is shining a spotlight on grassroots and community engagement.

The organisation works throughout football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and campaign for positive change.

Rishi Jain, Football League Clubs Development Officer at Kick It Out, said; “The ‘Season of Action’ is a fantastic way for clubs and Kick It Out to promote the message of equality and inclusion in football and provides a great opportunity to demonstrate a strong stance against any form of discrimination.

“Sheffield Wednesday have been supportive of Kick It Out for many years, so to have players, club officials and the community programme involved today is a brilliant way to continue this. ”

Kick It Out has its own App, which features a reporting mechanism that allows users to report any incidents of discrimination confidentially. This can be downloaded for iPhone and Android devices through the App Store and Google Play.
