- Sheffield Wednesday keeper goes down with illness
- Keiren Westwood was on international duty with Eire
- 29-year-old now back home recovering
Keiren Westwood has been confirmed as having withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Georgia in Tbilisi on Sunday.
The Owls’ goalkeeper went down with a bout of tonsillitis and has returned to England as a result.
Eire manager Martin O’Neill said: “Westwood has had to go home. He is pretty ill.
“He has been isolated for the last couple of days. It's a real shame."
Westwood was called up by O’Neill after impressing for Wednesday following his move to Hillsborough over the summer.
The 29-year-old has 16 caps under the belt to date.
