Young Owls in form

The Owls’ Under-18s posted a second successive win with a 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It was also the youngsters’ third clean sheet on the bounce.

Mason Duffy scored the decisive goal for the visitors in the first half following good work from Spencer Brown.

Coach Steve Haslam told swfc.co.uk: “It was another solid performance from the boys in what was a very young line-up, with eight-first year scholars starting the game and two first-year scholars and an Under-15 player coming off the bench to play their part in a fine collective effort.

“The discipline and tactical awareness that the players showed out of possession was really encouraging and, as in recent weeks, it gave us a solid platform on which to play.

“As the game opened up in the second half, we were a real threat on the counter attack and we had opportunities to kill the game off with Under-15 Jordan Lonchar very nearly scoring on an impressive Under-18 debut."
