Final piece of the jigsaw

2 April 2015

Kieran Lee is enjoying his most productive campaign in terms of goals scored and boss Stuart Gray has said that is the challenge set to the midfielder.

Currently on four goals for the season, Lee struck the winner last time out at Rotherham and, as Gray previewed the coming clash with Huddersfield, the head coach said:

“With the amount of times he makes the runs and gets in, the goals are just the final piece of the jigsaw.

“He’s scoring more goals than this time last season and that is the pressure I have put on him.

“Kieran is a player who puts the miles in on the pitch, so for him to show that energy and calmness in the 98th minute, it was fantastic.”

As Gray previewed the coming clash with Huddersfield during Thursday’s pre-match press conference, he added:

“That’s what you want from your midfielders, to chip in with goals. Maybe this time last year, Kieran wouldn’t have had that calmness.

“It was great timing, a great run and a great set-up by Stevie May and he had the composure to finish.

“He could have smashed it over and we would have had our head in our hands but he didn’t and I want to see more of that from him.”
