Lees targets top half finish

10 April 2015

Tom Lees can certainly reflect positively on his maiden S6 campaign, having settled in seamlessly at Hillsborough.

But with five games left to play, the defender will take no satisfaction unless Wednesday finish with a flourish in the top half.

The 24-year-old says that is the target with 15 points left to battle for and a big step to achieving that would be to defeat Charlton this weekend.

The Addicks are one place and one point ahead in the table.

“They are good opposition and obviously close to us in the table,” Lees said. “For us it’s about a response.

“We need to respond and not let ourselves down. We had a very good first half of the season and it would be a massive disappointment if we don’t finish in the top half.

“This is definitely a big game for us.”

Lees, who has made 43 appearances this season, continued:

“After we had gone round the fixtures once and seen what everyone had to offer, I thought we had a big chance to get in and around the play-offs and certainly top ten.

“Getting into the play-offs have gone but as a team, you must have targets and goals and ours is to finish in the top half.”
