21 April 2015

Sheffield Wednesday’s Ability Counts Disability team have celebrated their end of season with a special presentation night.

Owls skipper Glenn Loovens presented the players with medals and met the team ahead of last week’s Brentford game.

The Ability Counts teams walked around the pitch at half time and Owls fans clapped them for their achievements for the year.

Sam Firth, Disability Lead for the Programme, said: “More than 50 players are part of the Sheffield Wednesday Ability Counts team and it was great to have Glenn present them with awards. It was a special night for the players and we’d like to congratulate them all on a successful season.”

Ability Counts player Martin Barber was awarded with the Player of the Year award. He said: “I’m so happy to get the award! It was a great night and it was unbelievable to get presented with the award from Glenn Loovens!”

The Ability Counts team currently boasts seven teams in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Ability Counts League with three teams on course to win their respective league this season.
