Premier League 4 Sport impress at Sheffield Sharks game

29 April 2015

Young people from the Sheffield Wednesday Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) project have taken part in a basketball match against their Sheffield United Community Foundation counterparts.

The match took place during half time of a Sheffield Sharks game and saw Under 16s from the Premier League 4 Sport initiative battle it out.

PL4S combines the unique appeal of football clubs to engage youngsters from some of the country’s most disadvantaged communities.

The link up is there to increase participation in sport by delivering Sheffield Wednesday branded satellite clubs in schools and community centres across the north of Sheffield.

The Owls, represented by pupils from the Hinde House School, scooped the title and won with an impressive score of 6-2.

The project is ran in partnership with England Basketball and the Community Programme run six basketball sessions around the city for young people.

Current participants are now looking forward to the national basketball competition at the end of May which takes place at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
