The Star’s pick!

28 April 2015

Keiren Westwood added to his impressive array of honours during the ninth annual Star Football Awards on Monday night.

The goalkeeper was named as The Star’s SWFC Player of the Year at the Doubletree Hilton in Norton during the special ceremony.

Owls head coach Stuart Gray and Westwood were both present on the night and Gray said:

“I knew what I was bringing to the club when I signed Keiren Westwood and credit to him for keeping 17 clean sheets.

“Keiren has had a great season and long may that continue.”

Owls legend Des Walker was a special guest along with other famous faces from the region and beyond including European Cup winner Phil Thompson and ex-England skipper Terry Butcher.

The lifetime achievement award was presented to iconic football commentator John Motson, whose first taste of Football League coverage came while working for the Sheffield Morning Telegraph.
