The Owls’ Under-21s drew 1-1 with Crewe across the Pennines on Wednesday afternoon.
A scoreless first half gave way to a goal for each side after the break, with Jack Stobbs on target for Wednesday after the hosts took the lead.
Coach Lee Bullen said: “We should have won the game comfortably with the three of four clear opportunities we created in the second half.
“We went one down after a bit of slackness before Jack Stobbs equalised.
“Rafa Floro, Rhys McCabe and George Hirst all had good opportunities to win the game but their goalkeeper pulled off some great blocks.”
