A 25-year-old Sheffield Wednesday fan is celebrating after mopping up a staggering £1,150,000 in the EuroMillions Mega Friday draw.
Andrew Perkins, a domestic assistant for the NHS, found out he’d scooped the life changing amount when he checked his ticket on Saturday morning. Andrew’s winning ticket was bought in WH Smith in Meadowhall.
He said: “I woke up and made myself a coffee. I realised I’d not checked my EuroMillions ticket so logged on to my computer. I first checked my numbers and then my raffle code, I couldn’t believe my eyes when it was a perfect match!”
After triple checking his numbers, life-long Sheffield Wednesday fan, Andrew, asked fiancé, Christina Maher (32), to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him.
“I asked Christina to check for me. She entered the code in to the online checker and a congratulations message popped up on the screen. We both were speechless.”
He added: “I rang my parents who were out shopping to tell them the news. My mum answered the phone and I said, ‘I’ve won one million pounds’, my mum responded, ‘I don’t believe you’ and I said, ‘I swear I’ve won one million pounds on EuroMillions.’
Andrew said: “The win has given me peace of mind. I feel now that I don’t really have to worry about money.”
