Young Owls face derby test

3 April 2015

The Owls Under-18s take the short hop to Sheffield United on Saturday morning – and coach Steven Haslam is expecting a typically frantic derby affair.

The league clash sees the Sheffield sides go head to head for the bragging rights, which, Haslam says, is felt by the players even at such a young age:

“The boys feel the passion and know this game will be right up there in terms of the tests they will face through the whole of the season.

“First and foremost, the game will be played at a high tempo and the players have to be cool and composed in their thought process.

“Concentration is key as well, right from the first whistle.

“It’s a cliché but form does go out of the window for these games – Sheffield United may be at the bottom of the league and we have been in good form of late but we know we are in for a tough, tough test.”
