Head coach says João has all the attributes

Owls new boy Lucas João enjoyed his first taste of Hillsborough on Saturday during the friendly victory over St Mirren.

The Portuguese Under-21 striker could make his first competitive appearance this weekend as Wednesday begin the Championship term against Bristol City.

Head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “Lucas is a young, talented player and one for our future.

“We need to be patient with him. If you support him and give him good energy, he will answer with very good football because he has all the attributes to be a top striker.

“Lucas can help us during the season. I’m sure the fans will like him a lot. He has a brilliant future ahead of him.

“He has everything for a striker, he is tall, very good at receiving the ball, strong in the air and is good with both feet. His movement is great.”
