Loovens aiming for cup progression

Owls skipper Glenn Loovens wants the feelgood factor to continue in the Capital One Cup.

Wednesday made a flying start to the new campaign on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Bristol City and the action returns to S6 this evening.

League 2 side Mansfield Town stand in the way of Wednesday’s League Cup progression and Loovens said:

“We will play against a highly motivated team and this is an important game for us. It’s a trophy and it’s important we win this game to build momentum.

“It’s still early doors but I can feel the atmosphere is good. We have brought in some very good players.

“Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get used to each other but the players are adapting very quickly so it’s only going to get better from here.”

He continued: “It was nice to get that first win under our belt. It was very important. It was even better the manner in which we did it.

“Now we have a different kind of challenge and we want to go out there and perform again to progress in the cup.”
