Carlos Carvalhal on Bristol City win

8 August 2015

A great start - and Carlos Carvalhal is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

The Owls turned in a dominant display to dispatch Bristol City 2-0 on Saturday to kick off the campaign in style.

And Carvalhal has underlined the importance of taking the season step by step.

He said: “I am happy, the supporters are happy, and that is all we can ask for after the first game of the season.

“But I know that this is only the start, the first run of a long marathon. I try to be calm after the game, win, lose or draw.

“But right now I am happy for everyone, the players, the coaches, the chairman and, of course, our massive fans.

“They created a positive environment today which always has a positive effect on the team.”

With the Capital One Cup clash with Mansfield on the near horizon, the Owls’ head coach hinted there could be changes for Tuesday night.

He added: “We will see how the players recover after today’s game. The game in the cup on Tuesday is important but we could take one player out or we could take more than one player out.

“Or for example, someone who was not in the 18 today may start on Tuesday.”
