Carlos Carvalhal was pleased the Owls controlled the game in their 1-0 win over Oxford United in the Capital One Cup second round.
Atdhe Nuhiu made sure of a win for Wednesday in the 55th minute to put them through to the third round of the competition.
Carvalhal said: “I feel that we controlled the game from start to finish, in all areas of the pitch.
“In the first half I think we dominated the attacking play, and as Oxford pushed forward more in the second half, I think we showed a lot of control at the back.
“I was surprised the score at half time was 0-0, as we created enough chances to be ahead in the match.
“Overall, though, I am happy with the win, even though we could have won by more goals.”
The Owls now travel to Premier League side Newcastle at the next stage.
