Head coach keen for success

Carlos Carvalhal is aiming for Capital One Cup progress tonight when League 2 side Mansfield visit Hillsborough in round one.

The Owls host the Stags looking to build on their opening day Championship win over Bristol City and the head coach says he is keen to succeed in the cup competitions:

“The Championship is our priority but cup games like tonight are important.

“The story of the game on Saturday will be different to the story of this Mansfield game and the story of the Ipswich game will be different to the story of this Mansfield game.

“All three teams play completely different and so we use different strategies.”

Carvalhal has hinted at changes in the ranks and emphasised the need for a strong squad through the course of a long season ahead.

He added: “We could see one change from the team on Saturday, we could see more than one change, we could see someone who was not in the 18 on Saturday play from the start tonight.

“That is why it is important to have a good quality squad because this is a very long season and all the players have to be fit and focused to step into the team when they are required.”
