Carlos enjoying the cut and thrust of the Championship
Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal says the club are well equipped to deal with the busy fixture schedule.Throughout August, Wednesday have a total of seven fixtures in 21 days and with three down, the next is a clash against Reading at Hillsborough tonight.
Progress in the Capital One Cup has made the schedule even more demanding but Carvalhal says this is no problem and explained:
“Coaches and players prefer playing than training. I like that environment. The players don’t have a lot of time to recover but I would rather play all the time.
“We must manage the players and their conditions in preparation for their matches.
“When I was at Sporting Lisbon, we played in the Europa League and had a lot of matches. It was the same at Braga so it is nothing new to me.
“At Besiktas, we played every three days. I remember I had three periods of seven games in 21 days so I understand exactly what we must do in these situations."
One thing is for sure, Carvalhal is enjoying the atmosphere created by Owls fans home and away and he added:
“The British atmosphere in the stadiums is unique. It is why English football is special.
“It is a magic environment and that is the big difference compared to other countries.
“The tempo is higher in this environment and the players feel that all the time and give their maximum.”
