Semedo on the importance of the cup

25 August 2015

League 2 side Oxford United stand in the way of the Owls’ progression in the Capital One Cup.

With a place in round three at stake tonight at Hillsborough, midfielder Jose Semedo has highlighted the importance of the fixture.

He said: “It is a game that we want to win and take a lot of positives from. It can damage you if you don’t get a positive result.

“It’s always good to get that winning mentality whoever you play. We want to improve our home form from the last couple of years and our fans have been amazing and shown tremendous patience.

“We get fantastic support and I hope they keep getting behind us. That can only help the team and the club get to where we want.”

And the midfielder, who scored in Wednesday's first round 4-1 victory over Mansfield, added: “We have made a good start to the season but I know we can do better and will do in the next two to three games.

“What we know is we have made a very positive start and can only get better.”
