Sougou happy to salvage Owls point

Winger finding his form at Hillsborough

Modou Sougou has announced himself in the best possible way at Hillsborough with two goals from two games.

Having struck on debut against Mansfield in the Capital One Cup, Sougou came to the rescue on Wednesday evening at Hillsborough.

A goal down to Reading in the closing stages, the Senegalese international came off the bench and showed terrific technique to guide his volley into the Kop net in the final minute.

After the game he said: “I’m happy to score but the most important thing is the victory, that is what we wanted and unfortunately we couldn’t get that in this game.

“With these kind of games, if you can’t win then it’s better to save the point which is what we did.

“Reading played well and we will learn from that game.”

For Sougou himself, the winger has impressed during his short time at the club but by his own admission, is still behind in terms of his preparations over the pre-season period.

But given his impact on games so far, the forward can only go from strength to strength as he finds his feet in the Championship and he added:

“I’m happy but I know I need to work more because I am a little bit late in my preparations. In Marseille I did the first part of pre-season but didn’t play the matches.

“That is why I need a little more time to find my form.

“To play in England is one big privilege, I like the spirit of the game here, all the players want to win and want to fight, it’s what I expected.
