A joy to be involved

11 December 2015

Wednesday’s number one Keiren Westwood feels there is plenty to be optimistic about this season.

After 19 games of the 2015/16 campaign, the Owls are level on points with sixth-placed Cardiff, where they head on Saturday.

Westwood believes there are many components involved in what has been a positive period for the club.

Those include competition for places, quality in the squad and a strong work ethic.

He said: “We need to keep doing what we’re doing and what we believe in.

“We need to keep the work ethic we have in playing and training. It’s great and a joy to be involved in.

“We brought in a lot of players so there was always going to be a gelling period but we’ve hit the ground running.

“We need to keep picking up points because the Championship is very tight.”

He added: “The head coach has changed things when he has felt that he needed to, he does rotate the squad and it’s working.

“Obviously it’s nice to have a settled team and for the majority of the time it is but when lads come in, they do really well.

“The competition for places is really hotting up and everyone is playing well to keep their shirt and that can only bode well for us for the rest of the season.”
