Carlos Carvalhal believes the dynamic on and off the pitch is exactly how it should be.
The head coach says there is a strong relationship between the players, coaches and staff and that is playing a big part in the success this season.
In particular, Carvalhal highlighted Jose Semedo’s contribution, both in and out of the matchday squad, and said he is the type of player every successful team needs.
“I want to highlight the importance of Semedo in this case,” Carlos said. “He has a fantastic personality, he is a player who, whether he plays or not plays, has the same face.
“He will train double if he doesn’t play in the next training after the matches. This is important to the team and important to the clubs.
“This spirit is important because it means you can build a strong team.
“He’s an unbelievable professional. He wasn’t in the squad in the last game, I spoke with him in the morning and I said to him, ‘I didn’t sleep well because you work very well, you are a fantastic professional. But I can’t put all the players in the 18.
“Semedo just answered, ‘I am here to work for Sheffield Wednesday and you are here to make decisions, no problem.’
“It’s amazing when you hear this from a player. He is a team player.”
Semedo has made 11 appearances for Wednesday so far this campaign, scoring one goal.
