Discipline, desire and the will to win

10 December 2015

Jose Semedo’s new book ‘Win The Day’ has already proved a big hit with Wednesdayites.

The popular midfield man has discussed the aims and ideas behind putting pen to paper and releasing the publication – which is available from the Owls Megastore.

During a recent press conference surrounding the book and his career in general, Semedo opened up to aspiring journalists from Sheffield Hallam University.

The postgraduate Sports Journalism students put their questions to the Portuguese star and the video is available to watch below.

The exercise was an excellent experience for the students to put their journalistic skills to the test, while also strengthening the ties between Sheffield Wednesday and the university.

On his book ‘Win The Day’, Semedo said: “In this way, I think we can have more professional footballers and more young players who want to achieve.

“It’s about not giving up and to be at their best every day and I think more people will become professional footballers by living this way.

“It’s not only for footballers but everybody. Everybody can win, everybody can be at their best at whatever they do.

“That is why I released this book. It’s not just about what I achieved in football, what I have won and Semedo Day, it’s to try and help as many people as I can.

“With today’s world, the more mind discipline you have, the better you can be.

“I have opened my heart with this book and I wanted to give as much as I can to the fans because they give so much to me.

“The fans like me because they see me on the pitch on a Saturday but I wanted to open up as much as I can to them to repay what they give to me.”
