Carlos Carvalhal hailed his players for staying rigidly to the gameplan as Wednesday romped to a 3-0 win over Birmingham at Hillsborough.
The head coach devised a system and plan to undo the Midlanders, which worked to perfection as the Owls served up a Boxing Day treat.
He said: “The players did exactly what we planned before the game.
“They listened well, moved the ball from the right to the left, and this made life very difficult for Birmingham.
“Even though we did not create chances right away, I thought we controlled the game from the first whistle.
“But we scored two goals in two minutes and it is hard for any team not to be upset by that.
“We corrected just a few little things at half time and emphasised that we needed another goal very quickly.
“We did this with Fernando’s goal and from there, the result was never in doubt.”
Carvalhal went on to underline the togetherness in the camp and the importance of every player playing his part.
Typically, he credited the whole team rather than pick out individuals.
Carlos added: “We completely had the game in our control and that is because we have a good dynamic.
“I am happy with Fernando, but I am happy with Atdhe and Gary Hooper, who worked so hard for the team.
“I am happy with all the players in the group.
“That is the creation that we have here and this is what we will take into our next game against Middlesbrough on Monday.”
