Head coach deserves big credit

4 December 2015

Sam Hutchinson has heaped praise on the methods and philosophies introduced by head coach Carlos Carvalhal.

On a personal level, Hutchinson has played a key role in the engine room and says he owes the head coach and the staff at Hillsborough.

Having been a regular in the Owls midfield this season, Hutchinson wants that to remain the case and said:

“He’s very good and looks after me. He brought me out after a couple of games to rest me and I owe it to the gaffer, his staff and the physios.

“I was always confident in my ability. I was at a club for 17 years at the top flight, but with my fitness, I was never confident.

“But now I want to do more and more and the gaffer is reining me in.”

The former Chelsea man says Carvalhal deserves big credit as the Owls head into the weekend round of fixtures right up there with the play-off pack.

Derby represents a stern test this weekend for the Owls – perhaps the toughest of the Championship campaign to date – and Sam continued:

“The players have to go out and do what he tells us to do and he sets it up. It starts from him, but finishes with the players.

“He deserves big credit and him and his staff have been very good for us. We’ve completely changed the philosophy and become much more professional and I think it’s good for us.”
