No excuses; we are ready

4 December 2015

‘No excuses, we are ready’ is the clear message from head coach Carlos Carvalhal.

Wednesday face Derby on Sunday and the Owls boss was keen to discuss the team’s positivity and excitement for the game rather than news on individuals.

With key players approaching a return to action and doubts over those with injuries following the cup exit at Stoke, Carlos said:

“We don’t have any kind of problems for Sunday. By that I mean I don’t want any kind of excuses and talk about players that can’t play.

“We’ll play with eleven players that is absolutely sure. Players who are fit, ready and confident, with seven players outside who are ready to help the team.

“We’ll play in the environment we like too much at Hillsborough with the support of our massive fans and we are happy and looking forward to the game.”

Injury concerns were raised and the head coach responded:

“All the players are important. We have won games without Fernando, without Bannan, without Sam and without a lot of important players.

“I have confidence with all the players in the squad and we’ll be ready.

“We are playing against one of the best teams in the Championship and it will be an interesting game on Sunday.”
