Pressure points

19 December 2015

As Wednesday aim for a return to winning ways on Sunday against Wolves, Carlos Carvalhal says the pressure to succeed on that front is no more or less than any other game.

After slipping to defeat on Tuesday against MK Dons, a victory over Wolves and three more points on the board would be the perfect response.

“The pressure to me is the same all the time,” he said. “We are in a club where we are fighting all the time for the three points.

“There is pressure to win all the games, which is the natural pressure we have.

“It is not different to last week or in the beginning of the season.

“I am sure after this next game the answer to the question will be the same. We will have pressure to win against Birmingham and the pressure will be the same.

“This will be like this in the beginning and the end.”

Wednesday have been resilient on home soil throughout the first half of the campaign, tasting defeat just once against league leaders Middlesbrough.

On playing at Hillsborough, the head coach added: “It is a reality that when we play at Hillsborough in front of our massive fans, we feel more strong.

“It is a fantastic environment.

“When we need a push, the fans are there and the players are giving a good answer most of the time.

“We are strong when we play at Hillsborough. That is absolutely sure.”
