Wednesday dominated and dismantled Birmingham in a Christmas cracker, finishing comfortable 3-0 winners.
Man of the moment Fernando Forestieri fired two goals either side of a Kieran Lee strike to hand the Owls back to back wins at Hillsborough.
Wolves were blown away last time out in S6 and their Midland neighbours suffered a similar fate as a rampant Wednesday clocked three more points.
It was one way traffic almost from the off and the Owls had the ball in the net midway through the first half through Gary Hooper but the striker’s effort from a tight angle was ruled out for offside.
The Blues responded with a Demarai Gray hit deflected wide by Glenn Loovens before Wednesday went close on 28 minutes and signalled the blitz to come.
The effervescent Forestieri cleverly back heeled to Jack Hunt down the right of the penalty area and the pull-back was into the path of Hooper, who dragged wide via a slight deflection.
But Birmingham cracked under the pressure as the Owls scored twice in as many minutes to ride in the box seat.
First, seven minutes before the break, persistence from Hunt fed Forestieri at the back post and the Italian stabbed home.
Moments later, Wednesday were back on the attack and Lee profited from a mix-up in the Blues’ backline to advance and fire beyond Tomasz Kusxczak.
The beleaguered Blues were desperate for the whistle and might have gone down the tunnel 3-0 behind as Atdhe Nuhiu, Hooper and Barry Bannan all had cracks at goal but were thwarted by desperate defending.
The break, though, did little to stem the wave of attacks and the Owls were all but out of sight three minutes after the resumption.
Again, it was Forestieri at the heart of the action, picking up possession 25 yards out on the angle before delivering a perfectly executed drive high into the top corner.
A rare Blues break saw Jonathan Grounds denied by a fine save from Joe Wildsmith, whose counterpart Kuszczak dived to keep out Nuhiu at the other end.
Substitute Jeremy Helan brought the best out of Kuszczak ten minutes from time as the Owls went for a fourth but there was little disappointment at full time as the 3-0 success served as a firm foundation for the trip to Middlesbrough on Monday.
