Young defender pens pro deal

9 December 2015

Wednesday youngster Jack Lee has penned his first professional contract at the club.

The Sunderland-born defender has signed until June 2018.

Lee joined the Owls’ academy in January 2015 after impressing on a trial basis and immediately began his scholarship at Hillsborough.

The towering stopper signs his first pro deal on the day of his 17th birthday.

He said: “This has definitely been the best birthday I’ve ever had.

“This is what I have always wanted, to be a professional footballer and that day has come today.

“I was at Sunderland’s academy for eight years before moving to Sheffield Wednesday and it’s been great from day one.

“The players and staff have been really welcoming and it’s a great place to play your football.

“This is obviously just the start and I have a long road ahead but I will work hard because ultimately, I want to be playing in the first team.”
