Bullen praise for young Owls

17 February 2015

Owls coach Lee Bullen was delighted with his side’s display against a strong Leeds side on Tuesday.

In the league clash at Elland Road, the Wednesday youngsters gave an excellent account of themselves in the 0-0 draw and Bullen feels the point is a just reward for their efforts.

He told swfc.co.uk: “Against a strong Leeds side I was really, really pleased with how we played.

“We had a private friendly game a few weeks ago against Leeds and they were the far better side but today was much more like it from us.

“We had opportunities and the pleasing thing is we finished the game with players as young as 16 and 17 on the pitch and what an experience that is for them.

“We started with Paul Corry, Rhys McCabe and Lewis Buxton but finished with a really young team out there.

“As the game went on, Leeds began to grow into the game but that was perhaps a product of us taking our experienced players off.

“But even still, we created chances and kept our shape and almost won the game at the end.

“There was a good crowd there because it’s half term and that made for a fantastic environment for our players.”

Owls: Dawson, Buxton (Brown 70), Floro, De Havilland, Beatson, McCabe (Tracey 20), Stobbs, Croasdale, Fusco, Hanna, Corry (Sanders 55)
