The Owls have received a blow with the news that Glenn Loovens will be sidelined for a period of six to eight weeks.
The skipper suffered an injury in training that revealed a fractured ankle and head coach Stuart Gray has said the defender will require surgery.
Loovens has been absent for the Owls since defeat to Reading last month and Gray said:
“Unfortunately Glenn is going to need surgery to pin his ankle which is bad news.
“We’re looking at a six to eight week period where he is going to be out but these things happen in football.
“It’s part and parcel of the game.
“It’s disappointing for Glenn and disappointing for Sheffield Wednesday but we have to get on with it.
“The most important thing is that Glenn fully recovers and we get him back in the team.”
