Gray reviews Ipswich defeat

10 February 2015

  • Ipswich double hits Wednesday
  • Gray dismayed by Owls display
  • Brighton next up on Saturday

Stuart Gray described the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich on Tuesday as his side’s ‘worst display of the season.’

The hosts came from behind to take the points and the scoreline could have been worse for Wednesday as Town twice hit the post.

Following a miserable night in Suffolk, Gray said: “It was our worst performance of the season, without a doubt.

“It wasn’t like us at all and we were like it from the kick-off. They had free headers, they bossed the ball, the possession and we just weren’t at it.

“I told the players at half time that I could have made several changes. We were out-fought and out-battled.

“Ipswich played to their strengths and deserved to win the game.”

Gray added the Owls missed the experience of the suspended Glenn Loovens and injured Jose Semedo.

He said: “You are always going to miss players of that quality.

“They are good, experienced players but it’s up to the players coming in to take the opportunity.

“But we were poor all over the field tonight, there’s no getting away from that.

“We’ve had words in there and I want a reaction against Brighton on Saturday.”
