Jeremy Helan conceded that the Owls were below their usual standard on Saturday at Reading but the important thing is how the squad react.
Wednesday found themselves 2-0 down at the break in the Madejski clash and went on to suffer a rare defeat on the road this term.
With the Owls back at Hillsborough next weekend, the Frenchman has said they key thing now is to bounce back immediately from the blow in Berkshire.
Helan said: “It’s always difficult to come from two goals down.
“Sometimes these games do happen but the best thing to do is look at the mistakes, learn from them and never repeat them.
“The defence has been our strength this season and we feel we let ourselves down. Now we need to bounce back.
“Football doesn’t always go your way but the important thing is what you do in the next game.
“We know we can do better. We won three games in a row not so long ago and we are going to have to do that more often.
“We have to go on a run and if you do, gaps can soon be closed right down.”
