Owls out for positive response

12 February 2015

  • Wednesday face Brighton at Hillsborough
  • Gray wants response from Ipswich loss
  • Seagulls placed fourth from bottom

Stuart Gray has called for a positive response ahead of the Championship clash with Brighton on Saturday.

The Owls went down 2-1 at Ipswich in midweek with a performance the head coach described as ‘the worst of the season.’

Now, Gray is demanding an improvement for the visit of the Seagulls on Saturday.

He said: “First and foremost, I want a response and the players need to use the Ipswich performance as a motivator.

“It was a bad day at the office, there’s no doubt about that, and sometimes you do get that. Sometimes there’s no explanation and you have to put it to bed and move on to the next game.”

That comes against a Brighton side hovering dangerously over the bottom three, but Gray says the Owls will focus on their own game.

And above all, he is grateful for the quickfire opportunity to shake off the Ipswich setback.

Gray added: “Such is the Championship, the next game comes in just a few days and thankfully we don’t have to wait a week or more to get back on the pitch.

“The players are desperate to show what they are made of and one thing I do know is that we will see a response.

“Brighton come here near the relegation zone but Chris Hughton is an experienced manager who has them well organised.

“But we are focusing on our own game and the players know what they have to do.”
