Sheffield Wednesday have signed midfielder Filipe Joaquim Melo Silva from Portugese side Moreirenses for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
The 25-year-old has signed a three and a half year contract at Hillsborough.
The towering midfielder is known as Melo in Portugal, where he has played for Moreirense since 2013.
Melo soon developed into a fans’ favourite and captained Moreirense to the Portugese top tier last season.
He began his career with Uniao Lamas and also represented native clubs Beira-Mar, Avanca, Eapinho, Arouca and Naval.
Melo becomes the Owls’ fourth signing on transfer deadline day, following Sergiu Bus, Marnick Vermijl and Lewis McGugan into Hillsborough.
