Having been named on the teamsheet to start against Derby on Saturday, Wednesday were dealt a blow ten minutes before kick-off when striker Sergiu Bus pulled up with a groin injury.
The setback in the warm-up forced Stuart Gray to shuffle his pack right at the last and Bus now looks set to miss the midweek trip to Millwall.
Wednesday face the Lions at The Den on Tuesday (7.45pm) and Gray has rued the Owls' bad luck on the injury front.
He said: “We lost Sergiu Bus in the warm-up at ten to three.
“It’s groin problem and it looks as though he will be ruled out for Tuesday.
“It’s very frustrating for the boy but I thought Atdhe Nuhiu came in and did well. He caused Buxton and Keogh problems and it was a good battle up there.
“The disappointing thing is that we are not getting the rub of the green at the moment.
“But one thing we do know, we will go to Millwall on Tuesday and use a lot of what we did at Derby as a positive and build on it.”
