Transfer deadline day round-up in full

2 February 2015

It was a hectic transfer deadline day at Hillsborough – with the in-house media team on hand day and night with all the breaking news.

The Owls were involved in no less than six deals, with Romanian starlet Sergiu Bus kicking off the action mid-morning on Monday.

The young striker penned a three and a half year contract at Hillsborough having joined from Bulgarian top-flight side CSKA Sofia.

Next in the building after lunch was coveted Manchester United defender Marnick Vermijl, who also signed a three and a half year deal.

Vermijl has won international caps through the age groups for Belgium, with 43 in the locker up to the Under-21s.

Caloan Lavery then sealed a loan move to League One side Chesterfield, with the Canadian striker seeking regular first team football at The Proact Stadium as he continues on the comeback trail.

Lavery moves to the Spireites until 7 March.

Back to the S6 entrance, popular midfielder Lewis McGugan arrived around 5.30 to conclude his second loan move to Hillsborough.

McGugan enjoyed a temporary stint with Wednesday earlier in the season and has now inked a contract to stay in these parts for the rest of the season.

With the clock counting down, still there was time for two more deals.

First, academy graduate Mani Dieseruvwe finalised a permanent transfer to Chesterfield after impressing in Derbyshire whilst on loan since early January.

Dieseruvwe was the second striker to leave the Owls for the Spireites on a hectic day of activity.

Then, with the window inching down, Wednesday officials were working hard into the night in a bid to secure another European star.

Portugese midfielder Melo Silva jetted in and just enough time remained for the talented 25-year-old to pen the third three and a half year deal of the day.

Finally, at 11.00pm, the window came down and that was that!

Despite frenzied speculation throughout the day, there was only one place to go for the official breaking news – right here at swfc.co.uk and across the club’s thriving social media channels.
