Travelling triumph for Under-18s

8 February 2015

The Owls’ Under-18s were back in action on Saturday and emerged from second-placed Coventry with a 2-1 win.

Freddy Tracey came off the bench on the hour and scored both goals to give Wednesday a deserved victory after they trailed at half time.

The league game was only the second for the young Owls in 2015 given the fixture disruption caused by the inclement weather.

Coach Steven Haslam said: "It was a real gritty performance and I'm delighted with how the lads rolled their sleeves up and battled to win the game.

“With the pitch being bumpy, it made it difficult to string passes together so we spoke at half time about playing more direct than usual, picking up second balls and playing our football in the attacking half.

“Credit to the players as we dominated the second half and Freddy bagged two poachers goals on his return from injury to put us in front.

“I was pleased to see the lads' determination to close the game out and to come away with three well-earned points."
