The Owls’ Under-18s went down 1-0 to Crewe at Middlewood Road on Saturday in a close-fought league encounter.
A game of few chances saw the visitors break the deadlock five minutes into the second half, leaving the home side frustrated.
Coach Steven Haslam told swfc.co.uk: “It was a scrappy game played in very windy conditions, which made it difficult for both teams to find their rhythm.
“In the first half we dominated possession but our approach play was too laboured and this allowed Crewe to organise themselves behind the ball and then we found it difficult to break them down.
“We spoke at half time about moving the ball quicker and we continued to have a lot of the ball but we lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
“We finished the game with four Under-16 players on the pitch so it was good to get those younger boys some action with the Under-18 squad as look to integrate them for next season.”
